Project Managers face several challenges in the course of executing a project. Clients may change requirements without much warning, latent ambiguities in requirements may surface and difficulties in working with remote stakeholders may happen. While project lifecycles and processes are well understood by most PMs, projects run into trouble mostly due to inadequate capabilities in handling surprises, ambiguity and incomplete information. The MGP intervention has been designed to take your PMs to the next level of effectiveness through a 6-month intervention that provides enduring learning and development through training, mentoring and support. Ask us to make a detailed presentation to your company on this one-of-a-kind intervention.
Our approach:
We will learn about the PMs and their projects from project artifacts and interviews, observe their behaviour through non-intrusive participation in meetings and calls, assess their strengths and opportunities for growth and identify specific dimensions of PM competency for improvement. The PM competency dimensions we will select from include Team Management u0026amp; Leadership, Risk Management, Client Engagement Skills u0026amp; Customer Focus and Stakeholder Management. We will provide real-time and proactive mentorship and guidance to 6 of your deserving Project Managers.
How this is different from traditional training:
Through focused 3-hour training modules along with 1-on-1 sessions that consist of review of project status, risks, assumptions and team issues, and continuous support as needed during the workweek, the Project Managers’ learning is sustained. Feedback on what worked well, what did not and how to handle difficulties is real-time and therefore of high impact. The learning is on the job and endures – they will learn not just what to do in any situation but also how and why. PMs will also have a sounding board in the mentor who can validate the PMs’ thoughts and help them become self-learners.
How do we demonstrate effectiveness of the intervention?
We have developed a scorecard tool that captures evidence of demonstrated behaviour along each dimension of PM competency. By implementing ‘before’ and ‘after’ assessments of the PM along the chosen dimensions, it will be straight-forward to show that “the needle has moved” and that the intervention was effective.
What outcomes can we expect from this intervention?

Existing attitudes and mindsets that are unhelpful are challenged and PMs learn to look at their work differently. PMs grow in self-awareness and in confidence from seeing the direct results of the changes they make. They gain the “big picture” of their engagements and improve in relevant skills such as client management, stakeholder engagement and problem solving. Mentees experience the above outcomes of the intervention and develop life-long habits of growth and learning. Your company sees tangible effects of the intervention, gains an enhanced reputation for thoroughness and builds the next generation of leaders within the organization.
